Kindergartens hard at work...We are drawing lady bugs...start by tracing a circle then following along with the drawing lesson to complete. But my favorite part is the details, this week the ladybugs have been drawn in the park, a ladybug family, at a birthday party....the possibilities are endless.

 Animals in Art
Some art work examples from today's exploration of "Why do artists use animals as their subject matter?" Each of these students also explored different points of view. Can you tell which is which? Front point of view/side point of view/ and back point of view.
Some students tried their hand at realism while others kept it a little more abstract. Some chose color while others worked on their shading with value.

Camey Art (first day of school)

Our first day into the 2013-2014 school year. 5th/4th/3rd/2nd/1st are doing three things. 1) review the art room rules, there's only 4 so it takes all of 5 minutes. 2)our essential question "Why do artists use animals as their subject matter?" 3)look at some artwork throughout history based on animals and then create an artwork of an animal. Students have three ways to go about making their artwork, 1)they could just draw from their imagination 2)use idea sheets(old national geographic images)3)use how to draw books (purchased by me from 1/2 priced books)Photo below, if I knew how to flip it I would...I'll be posting some artwork and answers to the essential question later this week..keep posted!

Technology in Art...What?

This is my first attempt at a blog...arrrgggh! Its all good...every journey begins with a first step. So this is my first step, baby steps...into my technology journey. Seriously just getting onto the site to type this took about 15 minutes, I'm a slower learner so come next summer I'll be a pro at blogging.
